Meet animal welfare investigator Keith Davis, and out what a Dumb Friends League (Denver, Colorado 80231) animal welfare investigator does to make life better for animals.
Q: What do you do for the Dumb Friends League?
A: I’m an animal welfare investigator, and we cover eight counties in Colorado.
Q: How long have you been working at Dumb Friends League?
A: Almost 26 years. I started in kennels and worked my way up, becoming kennel supervisor and then manager. I was interested in investigations, so I took criminal justice classes and volunteered as an investigations clerk. I have been an investigator now since 1993. I love the field work and being able to interact with people and pets.
Q: What’s the best part about your job?
A: That we’re able to make a positive difference every day—one pet, one person at a time. We are taking action to make sure that pets have shelter, water, veterinary care, a clean environment—that they are being taken care of.
It’s great to do something worthwhile and also bust the “bad guys.” And I also like all the people I work with.
