Miss Society is a good looking, healthy 11-year-old calico cat who gets along well with other cats…and select people. She has been at the Humane Society Naples (Naples, Florida 34104) for over a year now, and it’s really no secret why this special kitty is waiting for a special person. She is quite the independent pet.

Miss Society is nice enough while she is lounging about. But when most people try to get to know her and move to pet her, she gets a little testy after one or two touches. She makes noise, but does not bite. Still, that’s enough to turn away most normal people.

But she does respond well to special people. For them, she will sit and allow herself to be petted a few times, and she will even roll on her back in delight. There must be someone out there who has room in their heart and home and can bring out the sweetie that is hidden behind her gruffness.

Miss Society is a member of the Cozy Care Cat Club, and that means her $35 adoption fee is fully refundable after 30 days.

Spring is a time of new life and renewed hope, but, sadly, many farm animals become victims of neglect and abuse this time of year after they are bought for novelty Easter gifts and then discarded or forgotten when the reality of their long-term care becomes evident. Whether they are rescued from factory farms, or saved from neglect as abandoned gifts, all farm animals need your help now.

The rescued animals at Farm Sanctuary (Watkins Glen, New York 14891) rely on adoptive parents to help provide them with food, shelter, bedding, and veterinary care. Be a loving sponsor for a farm animal today or share the inspiring story of one of these brave animals with someone you love as a gift. Each sponsorship package includes a personalized adoption certificate and a cute photo that makes a special addition to any Easter basket.

Choose one or more of the individuals pictured here to sponsor, or make a one-time gift to the animals today.

From the Humane Society Naples

As you know, springtime is kitten time, and The Humane Society Naples (Naples, Florida 34104) is going to need all paws on deck to serve as kitten foster families!

I’ve set a goal of adopting out at least 500 kittens and will need your help in caring and preparing these little babies for thier new lives as adopted pets.

If you haven’t ever volunteered here or if you’ve been absent for more than a year but want to be a kitten foster parent, you must first attend our Volunteer Recruitment Presentation.  The next one is this Saturday, April 9th at 10 a.m.

There is no pre-registration or form to fill out, just come to our community room on Saturday, listen to a short presentation and then decide how you want to help our shelter. The process usually takes less than 90 minutes.

We really need your help this kitten season. If you can’t foster but would like to help us purchase critical supplies used to foster a litter (such as kitten formula, baby bottles, etc.) please consider an online gift to help secure these things that are not regularly donated to our shelter. Thank you very much and be sure to come by to see our kittens!

Lowell the ‘little wolf’ (that’s what his name means) was literally shaking with fear in the shelter but after a few minutes outside he transformed into a sweet, happy boy. He is very gentle and seems to like other dogs. He wags his tail happily at everyone he meets and gives kisses. He is still learning how to walk on a leash and hasn’t quite figured out what to do with toys but he is very smart and so perfectly housebroken that he wouldn’t even go in his kennel at the shelter. He seems to like other dogs and was kissing a husky he met at the vet’s office. What a good boy!

Lowell is available for adoption in Romoland, California, through A Passion for Paws Akita Rescue. A Passion for Paws Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) certified non-profit dedicated to saving the lives of Akitas and other large breeds that have lost hope of finding a new home while awaiting death. A Passion for Paws is a NO KILL rescue organization that survives entirely on donations. They are these shelter dogs’ last hope!
