From the Providence Animal Rescue League

Duke stole our hearts when he first arrived here at PARL (Providence, Rhode Island 02903) back in January. That’s right, folks… January! Can you believe that he’s been waiting for his own perfect human for over three months?

Duke is a healthy active senior who LOVES people, giving big wet kisses, and rolling right over for a good old fashioned belly rub! At ten years old, his big brown eyes seem to just exude warmth and have a way of speaking to you. He sometimes gets a little grumpy around other dogs so a home without competition will be a-ok with Duke. Adults or a family with dog savvy kids who will respect this older gentleman’s space would also be ideal. As for cats? Not quite sure, to our knowledge he’s never been around them. We will end on a high note and say that Duke is housetrained, well mannered and has a lot of life and love to give!

Duke was featured on WPRI Channel 12 Rescue a Pet. Take a look at Duke’s video!

From the Farm Sanctuary

To commemorate Farm Sanctuary’s quarter century of work for farm animals and the progress we have achieved, Gene Baur is embarking upon a speaking tour across North America. His talks will highlight milestones over the past 25 years, including landmark legal advances, shifts in public awareness, changes in the marketplace, and growing coverage of farm animal issues by the mainstream media.

Gene’s thoughtful and inspiring presentations highlight the great change that has been achieved by working together and how we can all help to create a more compassionate society. In his presentations, Gene uses facts and research, not accusations or judgments. He appeals to our better selves and gently urges us to align our everyday actions with our own values and interests.

Bring Gene to your town! A presentation by Gene is a great way to get your local community thinking and taking action to promote compassion for animals and a better food system. Farm Sanctuary will provide support as you make arrangements for Gene’s visit.

From the Humane Society of Boulder Valley

For many dog guardians, walking their pet companions presents a challenging endeavor as their pets forge down the trail or along a sidewalk, dragging their well-loved guardians behind them. With the vast array of training collars on the market, many guardians opt for traditional training options that have been available for decades such as the choke or prong collar.

There Is a Better Way!

We are dedicated to helping enhance the relationship between you and your pet by providing a safe and effective tool to encourage enjoyable walks together. The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (Boulder, Colorado 80301) doesn’t believe it’s necessary to use pain, fear or coercion to modify or manage dog behavior. To encourage local dog guardians to stop using chock, prong or shock collars on their dogs, we’ve launched our No-Choke Challenge.

If you’d like to make Boulder Valley dogs the happiest dogs on Earth, please get involved in the No-Choke Challenge today!

Turn in your choke, prong or shock collar for a free SENSE-ation™ Harness and/or tell friends about the No-Choke Challenge. You’ll also receive a coupon for discounted training classes with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s expert training staff to further enhance the relationship you share with your dog. Learn how to get a free harness.

Make a donation today to support the No-Choke Challenge so we may continue to provide free no-pull harnesses and training support to folks turning in their dogs’ choke, prong or shock collars.  We’ve already had nearly 200 of these types of collars exchanged for no-pull harnesses, and our supply provided by donations from Never Shock A Puppy is running low!

Your donation of $15 or more will pay for a no-pull harness for one dog. If we raise $5,000, we can continue our campaign and help an additional 300 dogs by providing them with free no-pull harnesses and training support.

Start training in a positive manner today, and help other dog guardians do the same!  The dogs will thank you for it.
