Nevada Humane Society (Reno, Nevada 89502) is currently seeking Foster Parents for the hundreds of kittens who are turning up in the shelter. The Foster Program was created for animals that are too young or need special care before they can be placed in permanent loving homes. It gives these special-needs animals a better chance of survival and opens up space at the shelter so more lives can be saved.

Some kittens are with their moms, some need to be bottle fed, while others are already eating on their own and just need to reach two pounds in weight so they can be spayed or neutered and adopted. Experience is not required and NHS provides on-the-job training. Foster caregivers receive a kit of starter supplies and access to a 24-hour help line for the kittens in their care.

Please consider becoming a foster caregiver for Nevada Humane Society today and experience the fulfillment of helping to save precious little lives. For more information, please call 856-2000, ext. 321.

From the Valley Animal Center

This Earth Day, we encourage you to “paws” to recycle and bring your CRV recyclables down to the Valley Animal Center (Fresno, California 93726) on Saturday, April 23rd. As part of our “Paws to Recycle” program, you can collect bottles and cans to benefit shelter pets.

As a no-kill shelter, VAC runs completely off of public donation, so every cent counts. Your CRV from each bottle or can becomes a part of our “Recycle, Rehome, Renew” plan.

In addition to your standard CRV, you may also bring:

  • Printer ink cartridges (no Epson please)
  • CapriSun drink pouches
  • Laptops (used)
  • Digital cameras (used)
  • Cellphones (used)
  • MP3 Players (used)

Each of these items has a per unit cash refund that works much like CRV; something only made possible by our fantastic partnership with “Terracycle” and “The Cartridge Recycling Center.”

As part of VAC’s Recycl-thon, anyone who drops off a bundle of recyclables gets a free VAC reusable sports bottle, while supplies last.

For additional information about how you can get involved, whether it be hands-on assistance or running your own drive, please contact the head of our Recycling Committee at (559) 233-8554 or via email.

Items can be dropped off at:

Valley Animal Center
3934 N. Hayston
Fresno, CA 93726
Saturday, April 23rd (the day after Earth Day)
10am – 4:30 (in our main lobby)

Valley Animal Center encourages you to spread the word to friends, family, and your local classroom, organization or troop. Every item recycled helps save the planet as well as the lives of animals.
