Could you help gather pledges for this year’s Walk for Animals? The goal is to raise $100,000 for the animals. It’s more important than ever, as Nevada Humane Society (Reno, Nevada 89502) is seeing an increase in the number of pets that are arriving at the shelter with injuries or illness.

The Walk event, held June 4 at the Sparks Marina, includes a two-mile fun walk, music, K9 demonstrations, contests, face painting, pet services, refreshments, and more. Four-legged walkers on leashes are welcome.

You can win prizes too! If you raise $30 or more, you will receive a Walk for Animals 2011 T-shirts featuring custom designed art by Pickles artist Brian Crane, sports bottles, supersize tote bags, and mini digital cameras. The top fundraisers will even be given access to a VIP tent during the event.

Registration instructions and additional event details are available on Nevada Humane Society’s web site. You can register online as an individual or team walker. Once you have registered, you can create your own personalized page and then get the word out to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors etc. about your fundraising efforts to help the homeless animals in the community.

You can even form a team of friends and co-workers who will join with you to raise funds for the homeless pets, and if your company has gift-matching, the donations can be doubled! Teams can receive great prizes, too, based on the donations collected!

Walk brochures are found throughout Reno/Sparks area businesses, at the Nevada Humane Society, or can be downloaded from the Nevada Humane Society web site.
