Animal World USA is pleased to announce the 1st New Jersey Week for the Animals is scheduled from July 9-17 , 2011. During the extraordinary week, animal shelters, rescue groups, educational institutions and humane organizations across the state will be hosting wonderful animal-related special events which will be saving lives, building relationships, helping animals, and strengthening communities. Educators, students, businesses, and caring citizens across the state will be joining in to celebrate and help animals.

Events will include adoption events across the state, low-cost and free spay/neuter events, R.E.A.D. dog programs in libraries, doggie swims/dips, puppy mill awareness activities, book donations and author signings, blessing of the animals, student activities for the animals, animal communication presentations, community activities to help homeless animals, feral cat education, horse fundraising events, pet food donations, farm animal sanctuary events, wildlife activities, bird tours/activities, donation drives, fundraisers to benefit shelters, and therapy animals visiting hospitals/living assisted facilities.

Also to be included are a salute to our working K-9s and handlers, pet first aid, care & safety seminars, feral cat initiatives, vegetarian meetups, low-cost vaccinations, blessing for the animals, educational and tabling events, and fun-filled festivals for families to enjoy friendship, food, and music on behalf of the always amazing animals.Scores of precious lives will be saved and exciting new relationships will be built in communities during the dynamic week.

June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat month and Greenhill Humane Society (Eugene, Oregon 97402) is throwing a party to celebrate felines called… CatFest!

Where: Greenhill Humane Society, 88530 Green Hill Road, Eugene, Oregon 97402

When: Saturday, June 11th, 2011

Time: 11 am – 4 pm

Cost: Free!

This fun fest will include kid-friendly activities, including face painting, balloon art, creative crafts, an appearance by “The Cat in the Hat,” showing of Felix the Cat cartoons, unique cat merchandise, and more!

For the adults, cat seminars on multiple topics will be held every hour. Specific topics & times can be found here. Door prizes too! Come celebrate all that is feline with Greenhill!

Where: Participating Restaurants

Participating in this event is SIMPLE:  just eat dinner at one of the listed restaurants. Every participating restaurant is donating 20% of their dinner proceeds to the Louisiana SPCA (New Orleans, Louisiana 70114)!

“Pause for Dinner,” , the LA/SPCA’s annual one-night only restaurant event, will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2011 during regular dinner hours. On this night, highly recognized restaurants from around Greater New Orleans will partner to raise money for animal welfare in our region while attracting patrons and new clients to their business.
