Each spring during “kitten season,” thousands of newborn kittens join the millions of cats already in shelters across the country. That means your local shelter has tons of cute, cuddly newborns, in addition to all the mellow, older cats and everything in between. This includes your favorite shelter: Pets Without Parents (Columbus, Ohio 43214)!

PWP staff will help you find the perfect match for your very first cat — or to bring home a friend for another beloved cat. Possibly even Tabitha (pictured above), a 1-1/2 year old calico that was found as a stray. Tabitha is a good mouser.
Top 10 Things to do Before Bringing Your New Cat Home
- Make sure everyone in the house is in agreement to adopt a cat.
- Stock up on supplies BEFORE kitty arrives.
- Have a room designated as a “quiet space” while Kitty gets adjusted to their new surroundings.
- Have an identification tag or considering microchipping. Only use a breakaway collar on a cat.
- Cat-proof your home! Pick up things that Kitty may chew on or swallow that may be harmful.
- Choose a vet (if you don’t already have one) and schedule a visit during the first week.
- Consider adopting two cats together (double the pleasure, double the fun!)
- Budget for the short and long-term costs of caring for a new pet.
- Include your new pet in your family emergency plan.
- And most importantly, be ready to have lots of fun with your new feline friend!
