From Rutland County Humane Society
Oops, your dog is pregnant – it can happen so quickly – and now you have a litter of puppies coming. You think you can place some of them, but how do you make sure they get good homes? How can you prevent this from happening again?
Rutland County Humane Society (Pittsford, Vermont 05763) can help with both these questions. Call us at 483-6700 and we’ll tell you about our Spay the Mom program. When the puppies are weaned, mom and the entire litter come to the shelter. Mom is spayed and returned to you at no charge. The puppies are put up for adoption by RCHS. We do this to prevent unplanned puppies and reduce the number of homeless pets. It also provides a screening process to make sure the homes they go to are a good match.
We offer Spay the Mom services for cats, too.
