From the Larimer Humane Society (Fort Collins, Colorado 80525)
Every year, roughly 12,000 animals are brought to Larimer Humane Society. Some are lost, looking for a way back to their families. Some are surrendered, in need of new homes and families to love them. Some are old, some are newborn; some are healthy and some arrive ill or injured. They all, however, have a story to tell. This story weaves itself through an animal’s former circumstances, the care they received at Larimer Humane Society, and the love, freedom, and new life they found once they left the shelter doors.
Any Larimer Humane Society staff member or volunteer will tell you, there’s a beautiful moment in every animal’s story. Eyes full of hope after surgery, a release back into their natural habitat, or the moment they began enriching the lives of their newly adopted family.
12 of 12,000—A Celebration of Second Chances is a two-part project spotlighting 12 of the 12,000 animals that come through our doors each year. Graciously, Heidi Muller Photography has donated time and talent to photographing each of the 12 ambassador animals and recording their heartwarming stories in an effort to educate our community about the lifesaving services Larimer Humane Society provides, create awareness about animal welfare, and raise funds to help continue these efforts throughout Northern Colorado.
