From the Farm Sanctuary (Watkins Glen, New York 14891)

As 2011 winds down, we wanted to make sure you’d seen Farm Sanctuary’s year-end video update from National Shelter Director Susie Coston. It is heartwarming to see how far Orlando, Sebastian, Jane, Eric, and so many others have come with your support.

We’re depending on you to give us the strongest start to 2012 possible, and to help more farm animals in the new year. So please, make your year-end gift today.

From our family — the rescued pigs, cows, goats, hens, and other farm animals at our shelters — to yours, thank you for your compassion and generosity. We wish you all the best in the new year.

From the New England Basset Hound Rescue (Newfields, New Hampshire 03856)

As 2011 comes to a close, we wish to thank you for your support of New England Basset Hound Rescue.

We took in almost 80 dogs this year, and worked to place them with wonderful new families as well as a number of previous adopters who had recently lost their hound, or couldn’t say no to “just one more!”

Many of these dogs had extensive medical needs that came with steep expenses. Thanks to you — raising money for Woofstock; purchasing t-shirts, calendars, tote bags, and wine; donating money and time — we were able to provide what these dogs needed and get them to their forever homes.

Without your support, we would have had to turn these dogs away, say no to live-saving surgeries. But instead, nearly 80 dogs’ lives were changed in 2011 and we are grateful for our foster homes, generous supporters, last-minute transporters, kennels, veterinarians, and friends who make it all possible.

As you make your last charitable gifts this calendar year, we hope you will consider NEBHR in your plans. Gifts of any amount make a difference to our rescue and will allow us to continue another great year helping the Basset Hounds of New England. NEBHR is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, so your donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed. Please click here to go to our donation and PayPal page.

And just a quick update – we are thrilled to report that we found a wonderful home for Blind Buster right after we sent out our last e-mail! He was adopted on Christmas Eve by a previous adopter and has fit right in with the resident hounds (several of whom have special needs also!) What a great way to wrap up the year!

We hope you’re enjoying a wonderful holiday season and we wish you and your hounds all the best for 2012. (And stay tuned for Woofstock details coming in January!)

From the Nevada Humane Society (Reno, Nevada 89502)

Give the gift of comfort to a shelter cat and help kick the New Year off right! Nevada Humane Society is asking for Kuranda Cat Beds and Towers in order to give homeless cats a more special place to sleep. These specially designed pet beds offer orthopedic support and provide a cozy raised perch, as well as increased floor space. The cat towers allow chasing and climbing through multiple levels, offering exercise and stress relief. You can view the beds and towers here.

The standard cat bed is $29, while the 9-tier cat tower is $189, plus shipping fees, which is based on weight. If you can help provide a homeless cat with one of these Kuranda beds for the holiday season or would like more details, please email or call Kimberly at 775-856-2000 ext. 324.
